About
Darren Waterman is a Level 3 qualified coach with over 25 years experience in the sports education industry. Darren has worked at all levels in education from infant to secondary schools, where he planned and delivered PE lessons, PPA Cover, CPD for teaching staff and extra curricular activities (after school clubs).
Darren was a School Games Organiser (SGO) for South East and Winchester for two years, responsible for coordinating competitive opportunities for 29 schools within the partnership.
Outside of school life, he founded and owned Elite Training Centre (ETC), a football coaching academy based in 5 locations across the south coast.
Why Access Sports
Physical activity is a vital part of all children’s development. According to www.gov.uk “All children should have equal access to high-quality PE provision and opportunities to experience and participate in a wide range of sports and physical activities.”
This is not always achievable for all children within whole-class PE lessons.
Tailored Lessons
Access Sports works with schools to offer bespoke lessons for individuals or small groups of pupils who would benefit from targeted teaching catered to a specific need. We provide a programme of lessons for pupils with additional needs such as behaviour, SEND, emotional, disability and obesity.
Access Sports uses creative and innovative equipment that engages pupils and enhances their learning experience. We want children to feel confident to try new things and help to build their resilience and perseverance with new challenges.
Safeguarding & Training
Safeguarding is a vital part of Access Sports and we continually ensure we are up to date with all the relevant training and Government policy changes, including PREVENT, Keeping Children Safe in Education 2024 and Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023.
